This page explains how personal information is handled on this site.

Who we are

This site is operated by Barnaby Harris, working on the Weave project. Weave Cooperative Limited is in formation as the legal entity that will operate the project: it is being incorporated as a cooperative under steward ownership, with the structures described in the Governance and mission page. Once incorporated, it will become the operator and data controller for the Weave project. Until then, Barnaby Harris is the data controller for any personal information collected through this site, and is referred to as “we” throughout this policy.

What we collect

At present this site is a holding page with a mailing list signup. The only personal information we collect from you directly is:

  • Your email address, if you choose to sign up to our mailing list.

We do not run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or social media tracking pixels. The site itself does not set cookies.

Our hosting provider (Netlify) may collect basic access logs in the course of serving the site - this is standard for any web hosting and typically includes IP addresses and request times. These logs are retained briefly and used for security and reliability, not for marketing or profiling.

Our mailing list is operated by MailerLite, a third-party email service based in the European Union. When you sign up, MailerLite stores your email address and may collect technical information related to your subscription (signup time, IP address, email opens if you allow them). MailerLite processes this data on our behalf under their own privacy practices, which you can read at https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Why we collect it

We use your email address only to send you updates about the Weave project. We do not share it with anyone other than MailerLite for the purpose of delivering those emails. We do not sell mailing list data, and we do not use it for advertising or behavioural profiling.

Lawful basis

We process your email address on the basis of your consent, given when you sign up. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing - every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us directly.

How long we keep your data

We keep your email address on the mailing list for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, MailerLite removes your address from active sending; their retention of historical records is governed by their own policy.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • correct anything that is inaccurate
  • delete your data (the “right to erasure”)
  • restrict how we use it
  • receive it in a portable format
  • object to how we use it
  • withdraw consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please email barnaby@weave.coop. We will respond within one month, as required by law.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator. Their website is at https://ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

This site is in early development, and the way we handle data may change as the Weave project develops. When the first product (Validate) launches, this policy will be substantially expanded to cover the data Validate handles. Any material change will be notified to mailing list subscribers and reflected on this page.
